Feeding the Root Nutrition was built on the belief that care should feel human, culturally grounded, and sustainable. Our team brings together clinical expertise, community connection, and operational support to make sure care doesn’t just sound good, but actually works in real life.
Where this work took root

I’m Samaria, founder and lead dietitian at Feeding the Root Nutrition.

I earned my bachelor’s degree in Dietetics from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and my master’s degree in Clinical Nutrition from the University of Memphis. After my training, I spent years gaining clinical experience in intensive care, long-term care, and working with families. Today, through Feeding the Root Nutrition, I work across community settings, corporate organizations, and one-on-one care with women who want to feel seen and supported in healthcare spaces that weren’t built with them in mind.

Most days start the same for me: a double shot of espresso with a splash of milk and just enough foam, cuddled up with my journal or a book as the sun comes up. A morning walk and a Spanish podcast usually follow. From there, I lean into the systems that keep my big ideas grounded – my Google Calendar, paper planner, and ClickUp dashboard.

I grew up on a farm, where I first fell in love with food and learning where it comes from. That foundation shaped my belief in the parallels between nature, our bodies, and the environments we exist in. This continues to influence my work rooted in cultural foodways and whole person care.

I’m currently studying to become a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) and learning Spanish to better serve our communities and to fully enjoy habichuelas, arroz, and tostones while traveling. At the heart of my work is helping people navigate health within complex systems, with care that honors culture, context and the full human experience.
How we are growing
Hola, I’m Karely! I’m a bilingual Community Wellness Associate (English & Español) with a Master’s degree in Health Science concentrating in Lifestyle Medicine. Here at Feeding the Root Nutrition, my work focuses on supporting culturally centered nutrition education. I have experience in promoting health through making evidence-based lifestyle changes.
As a proud first-generation Mexican-American woman, I understand how important cultura, family, and food are when it comes to health. I appreciate getting the opportunity to work with the Spanish-speaking community and creating a space where you can feel comfortable, understood, and supported. I have been traveling to Mexico almost every year to visit family since I was a baby, and that has been my favorite place to visit; there is no place like home! Outside of work, you’ll usually find me at the gym, looking for a good cafecito, staying organized, traveling, and enjoying any good documentary series or k-drama. I am a coffee lover, so anytime I travel, I am looking for the best coffee shops around! I also enjoy scrapbooking, using all the pictures I take on my adventures!

Meaningful care doesn’t happen without strong systems. Behind every appointment, referral, and follow-up is intentional coordination that keeps the practice running smoothly.

I'm Amy, Practice Operations Coordinator. I assist clients throughout their journey with Feeding the Root both in front of and behind the scenes.
Have a question? I have an answer! I’m someone who loves color coded calendars, graphic design (my original trade) and my two rambunctious cats. I’m precise, sociable, and passionate about making sure every client feels welcomed, supported, and cared for from their very first interaction.
