I’m Samaria, founder and lead dietitian at Feeding the Root Nutrition.

Most days start the same for me: a double shot of espresso with a splash of milk and just enough foam, cuddled up with my journal or a book as the sun comes up. A morning walk and a Spanish podcast usually follow. From there, I lean into the systems that keep my big ideas grounded – my Google Calendar, paper planner, and ClickUp dashboard.

I earned my bachelor’s degree in Dietetics from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and my master’s degree in Clinical Nutrition from the University of Memphis. After my training, I spent years gaining clinical experience in intensive care, long-term care, and working with families. Today, through Feeding the Root Nutrition, I work across community settings, corporate organizations, and one-on-one care with women who want to feel seen and supported in healthcare spaces that weren’t built with them in mind.

I grew up on a farm, where I first fell in love with food and learning where it comes from. That foundation shaped my belief in the parallels between nature, our bodies, and the environments we exist in. This continues to influence my work rooted in cultural foodways and whole person care.

I’m currently studying to become a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) and learning Spanish to better serve our communities and to fully enjoy habichuelas, arroz, and tostones while traveling. At the heart of my work is helping people navigate health within complex systems, with care that honors culture, context and the full human experience.
